Description
Lielstraupe's castle was built in the 13th century. It's the only castle in Latvia which has also a church adjoined to it. Straupe, where the castle is located is the smallest Hanze city in the world. In Valmiermuiza they have been brewing beer since 1624 and even since the 13th century at Valmiera castle. Since 2006 the present day owner is offering a beer terrace and a shop to taste or buy several different beers. You can even find wine here. The bordertown(s) of Valka/Valga has a very interesting history. It's a town split in two by the Latvian/Estonian border. We will take a closer look at both sides. In 1919 one of the most important battles for the Estonian independence took place at our last stop : Paju battle memorial. Let's move on to Tartu!Includes
