Description
Meet your guide in the morning and head to the gorgeous Abava River Valley for a kayaking/canoeing and small towns' adventure. The drive to Kandava Town is approximately 1.5 hours long. You will start your adventure with a short 1-hour morning hike on a nature trail in Nature Reserve Čužu Purvs (Čužu Mire). In this unique place, you'll see protected and rare wetland habitats and sulfur springs. If you are lucky to visit this site in spring, May to the beginning of June, you will see the bog covered in yellow blossoms of the protected plant species Pentaphylloides fruticosa, called krūmu čuža in Latvian. After the inspiring morning walk, you'll start your kayaking/canoeing trip of around 30 km (19 miles) on the Abava River. On the way, you'll enjoy the gorgeous Abava River valley. This is one of the most beautiful kayaking/canoeing trips in Latvia. Your knowledgeable eco-tour guide will engage you with their special improv-travel approach and will tell you about nature and culture values of Latvia. During your kayaking/canoeing trip, you will stop to see the so-called Devil's Cave, Velnala, and Devil's stone. There is another gorgeous view from the stone on Abava River Valley. You'll end your kayaking/canoeing trip at the famous Abava Rapid. You will have a chance to take the last swim here in the river. You will then hop in the car and drive to Sabile Town. This is a great place for a late lunch and for some amazing ciders made from local apples. After lunch, you'll visit Sabile Vine Hill. This is the place recorded in Guinness Records Book as the most northernmost vineyard, where the grapes grow. The hill ascends above the Sabile Town with a gorgeous view on Abava Valley and Sabile Town from above. The last stop before heading back to your hotel in Riga is Kandava Town, the place where you started your kayaking/canoeing trip in the morning. Kandava is one of the most beautiful towns in Latvia. It's history dates back in 1230. Take a late afternoon walk on its narrow and tranquil streets and visit its famous stone bridge, Kandava Church Hill, and old Kandava Castle ruins. From here you will have the last view on the beautiful Abava river valley.Includes
