Description

This full-day tour from Riga offers an exploration of Latvia’s medieval castles, natural landmarks, and Cold War history.

Start in Gauja National Park at Sigulda, where you will visit the Livonian Order’s medieval castle ruins. Climb the towers for views over the Gauja River Valley and learn about the fortress’s 13th-century history.

Next, head to the Turaida Museum Reserve. The red-brick Turaida Castle overlooks the forest and offers panoramic views. Hear the local legend of the Turaida Rose while exploring the castle grounds.

Stop at Gutmanis Cave, the Baltics' largest and oldest cave. Its sandstone walls hold inscriptions from centuries past, formed by natural springs and river erosion.

Continue to Cesis, a medieval town with cobblestone streets. Visit Cesis Castle, one of Latvia’s best-preserved castles, and explore its historic grounds.

The final stop is the Secret Soviet Bunker in Līgatne, located 9 meters underground. This Cold War site was built to shelter Soviet officials during a nuclear threat and remains well-preserved with original equipment and relics.
