Description
Travel 160 km north from Riga to Kolka, one of Europe’s most unspoiled coastal areas, accompanied by an experienced local guide. The tour starts at 7:15 am at Riga central bus station’s cash desk, where you buy your bus tickets for the 3.5-hour journey each way.
The route passes through Riga, the resort town of Jūrmala, and various fishing villages, offering views of modern villas, historic wooden summer houses, pine forests, and the shoreline.
Upon arrival in Kolka, you can purchase lunch at a local shop and enjoy a picnic on the beach. Visit the Livonian House’s History and Art Exhibition and see the Lutheran and Russian-Orthodox churches from outside. Walk along the Pine Track, where winds shape the trees into spirals similar to those in coastal China or Japan.
From the high dunes, use binoculars to spot Estonia’s Saaremaa island 37 km away across the strait. Birdwatch in the national nature park or take time to meditate on the beach or in the forest. Qi gong gymnastics sessions are also included for relaxation.
